Sad to say that I will be closing The CraftsPlace down on Friday 25th May. Unforeseeable family commitments have made it impossible for me to run it reliably & it's not yet earning enough to employ someone else to run it. I will continue to do the vintage stuff online and at various markets, and should be able to do occasional workshops from home. I will also compile a list of workshops that I'm able to travel to do; if you are looking for something inexpensive to entertain a group of 4-15 people who'd like to learn something new (not children, at this point in time - no CRB check) please drop me an email & I'll check the diary!
Something very similar but bigger, also textile-based, will be opening in the same unit at the end of June. Watch this space for more information!
Vintage craft stuff : "Golden Hands" & other classic & vintage "how-to" magazines, hundreds of books, vintage sewing machine parts & spares, darners, lace, buttons, vintage crochet & knitting patterns, needles & latch hooks, amongst other things. Also working secondhand spinning wheels & looms, craftsman-made spindles, handspinners & giant knitting needles for rugs & bedspreads.
All at affordable prices; the kind of thing you might find in a good secondhand shop or a flea market, but all under one roof at 9, Mill Lane Precinct, Wimborne, Dorset BH21 1JQ. Come on in and have a good rummage round; you never know what you'll find to surprise and delight you! Stuff you can feel a glow of virtue for rescuing and re-using, rather than pangs of guilt and pain-in-the-wallet for buying new... I am running down the web shop now as the real-life version is claiming all of my time, but don't hestitate to contact me if there's something small & easily posted that you need, like bobbins (spinning, weaving, lace or sewing) or a shuttle for an elderly sewing machine - I may well have one tucked away somewhere.
Or visit me at Boscombe Vintage Market or local craft fairs throughout the year - see the "Events" calendar for dates & details.
